Meet Jack Jack, he's not a birdline bird, but has been with me for coming up to two years now.  He came to me like this:

And nearly two years on, he now looks like this:

It's been very up and down with him, and he plucked a lot of feathers last July when I had my op, but fingers crossed he's been fully feathered now for a few months with no issues, so Im hoping that he's gonna leave his feathers be - Particularly his tail, as it's his tail that's been the swine to grow - I dont think he's had a tail like he has now for a long long time!   AND he also flew for the first time a few days ago, he was like OMG how did I get here?

Well he paired himself up quickly with Bex, my disabled grey and they were inseperable pretty much instantly!  I put it down to that, but he obviously has an attachment to me, else why would he pluck when I was in hospital?  He doesn't do change well, so I try to keep any stress down to a minimum. Otherwise he's treated much the same as the rest  Just a good fit I guess x

Aww bless ya, it is nice though, I wish all outcome's were like this one, it's nice to be able to have made a difference in this one's life. I know his past history is pretty much that he lost a few people early on, so I guess he's a very insecure little bird.  Hopefully with having a partner has made him more secure and dependant on a bird rather than a human, and long may it continue! x

Well done, it's so lovely to see him with all his feathers now. Hope we have as much success with our safehouse bird who currently has a naked belly.

If you have read my post Ducorps problems you will know that I am going through the plucking behaviour with my girl at the moment - well done you for your success - and it gives any of us going through this - hope. It is especially poiniant having exhusted all the other options - and coming to the conclusion that having a friend for her - may make all the difference. Have joined and filled in all the forms to become a safehouse. Sadly my father passed peacefully away this week after suffering a long term illness. So if noone has heard from me regarding the safehouse - that is why. At least my little girl seems happy in herself - just plucking - one minute it looks like it's getting better then backwards she goes and it's not helped at the moment due to it seemingly being her time of year to nest down. Nevermind folks - still being positive.

Bigs congrats anyway hon - so fab to see a bird come back like that.

Heather
