As I may have mentioned I've really struggled this last week without having a dog. And without wishing to rush out and get another one I thought I'd go and visit some rescues today  Well, yes I ended up bringing one home, but he is the most gentle and laid back dog, he's bootiful  A bit nervous about the noisy parrots so far and a bit curious, but I've managed to shift all but one into the back room, and will break him in gently with just the one in the front room now. I also have a weeks trial with him, should he be too much for the birds, or vica versa then we will have to review, but Im silently hopeful, he's doing good so far.

He's an older dog than I wanted at 7, but tbh he was by far the most suitable dog for me and for Dan, and of course having the birds here. There was a STUNNING staffie which if it was just me I would have had like a shot, but he was far too powerful for Dan to be able to walk as he wants to take the dog out himself

Dans gone off for his holiday now and I knew I was really gonna struggle, it just didnt feel right  But hopefully we will be OK now, my main concern is how he will react to the noise, so just got to keep a close eye on him for the next few days.

fabulous doggy - well done. I know I could never be without a dog have to confess - I've got 5 here so far. 2 old english sheepdogs 1 of 14 1/2 years - 2 dachs and a little bolognese from Italy. They all love each other to bits and my youngest old english adores my little ducorps Angel and she her - it's hilarious really that a bird and dog can have such a relationship with each other. Here's hoping yours do.

Congrats anyway

Heather

Mandy - he looks a real sweetie. Looks like he's got a cataract in that left eye - not sure about the nright as it doesn't feature much in the photos. Maybe if he gets that sorted
, he'll gain in confidence? I hope he is what you and Dan need to see you through this.

Yeah the staffie was soft as anything but very very strong.  I think I made the right choice, he's been in the back of my mind for a few days which is why I wanted to see him. But I kept thinking he's gonna be bouncy, or nasty or something, but he is pretty much everything I wanted in a dog, I still cant believe he's here! Had a couple of accidents (runny poo) in the night, but Im putting that down to having a week in kennels, along with all the moving and excitement yesterday and it should settle down.  Not noticed his eye, but thanks, will get that looked at

Had to laugh, took him up to bed last night, he lay straight down and I thought OK, he's settled.  Switched light off, then all of a sudden I felt the duvet being scraped off me! He paddled away until I had no duvet left on me, and wouldn't stop until I turned over so he could cuddle up  Was very sweet

He is one of those doggies, and I've had sme of these myself that has a 'funny' look about them that makes them even cuter!!!

I just know he will settle and you'll have another happy member of the clan.

Good luck and keep us up to date!!

When he wants something he manages to somehow have a puppy face lol  He is the scruffiest thing you'll ever meet, but that adds to his charm.  But he's booked in for a bath and groom on Wednesday so that will be remedied xx
