A couple of weeks back an ad came on another forum wanting a home for a disabled baby grey. Me being me went OMG   Turns out his legs were damaged in the nest box, and he was walking with one leg out to the side, using the 'elbow' to walk on.  As a result this was causing sores etc, so they needed a special home for him.  I was lucky enough to be chosen, and he came home last Sunday.  He is a total doll, had a panic on the second day he was here, as he knocked the scab off and was hanging on  by a thread  So now his leg is bandaged up, and probably will have to be pretty much permanantly now.  If he gets any sort of muck into this area it will get infected and basically the outlook would not be good   His cage is set up with no grill, towel underneath the paper, food and water on the floor and just a couple of padded flat perches.  He can fly, he can fly really well, but because he struggles to land, Im having to aim him to tops of cages which have padded fleeces on top or the sofa etc.. But he's getting better, only been a week and he's learning really quickly.  So anyway, here you go - Here's Scooby - Will update with pics of cage etc as we develop together.  The picture with three birds, Jack Jack is on the left, Scooby in the middle, and Bex my other disabled grey on the right! She is doing realyl well too now - Still cant fly, but she manages to get about regardless.

He is so adorable, I could munch him up!!!!!!!

Caring for special needs is so demanding.....you are doing a fantactic job.

I have Rufus a special needs CAG liable to falling due to lack of wing feathers and I also line the bottom of the cage. I have started using cheap baby changing mats under newspaper. Cushioned and easy to wipe clean.

The only difficulty I have now is that Bex cant climb up on there herself, I have to help her up. Whereas before she just climbed up and perched on top of the cage/  But without the padding, Scooby's foot would get stuck in the bars! Still needs a little working out but it's doing OK at the moment.

Mandy, could you run a rope perch alongside the soft top, so that Bex has something to pull herself up on and it's still soft for Scooby? Just an idea.
