Hello everyone i thought I had better come here and introduce myself

I am semi retired ex distribution manager with plenty if free / spare time now

although i started a computer business when i took my early retirement ( bear this in mind directors -  i can host for free from one of my own servers)

My passion is and has been for many years now Parrots and I currently have 4 African Greys (congos) Charlie aged 2 whom i hand reared from a few weeks old, George aged 9 who has spent his entire life trying to to bite me ! he adores my partner. Buddy aged 6 who cannot fly and adores everyone , his treat is to come out for a ride in the car and he has a special perch. Last but not least Cookie and 5 yr old who adores everyone sadly at his previous home he suffered on injury to one leg and this resulted in torn tendons, although this never healed correctly it dosent deter him him from anything. I have cared for Parrots/Cockatoos for many years now and have had many birds here with behavior problems which in the main we manage to resolve, The latest was a gorgeous Umbrella Cockatoo age/sex unknown but he/she was a real screamer and his owner had problems with this. I had him / her here for 4 weeks and soon found his screaming was just attention seeking and within a few days had him / her settled in routine that suited and he was able to return home shortly afterwards where the owner was able to follow my routine / regime and enjoy her pride and joy without fear of complaints.

I am able to accomodate another 4 birds in cages if needed, so i would dearly like to offer my services as a safe house , if this is possible ?

------
my current extended family consists of 3 gorgeous African Greys (congo), Pancho my Umbrella Cockatoo (who is the cuddliest and cheekiest of birds), marge my bearded dragon, Sam a 6 yr old shepherd X rottie (bottle fed from a week old) and last but not least Widget my cat

Welcome George. As Kerry says, all our safehouses and foster homes are required to be fully paid up members of BL (£20 per year.) Then your nearest ACO (hence the need to know where you live) would come and visit to do a safehouse assessment and assuming things go well, you'd be ready to go. We're always keen to welcome new safehouses, they are very necessary and in short supply. It would be lovely to see pictures of your flock (and you) - the easiest way is using a photobucket account.

There are regular sessions in Live chat around 8pm(ish) on a Monday and Thursday. I'm sure you'll find us a friendly bunch and hope you decide to join.

Hi George, Welcome to the forum. Your flock sounds lovely. Where are you from? As people have said, you must first become a member before being eligable
to apply to foster or safehouse. Hope you decide to join us.

Hi George, it sounds as if you will be a really valuable person to have around. Welcome to BL and hope to hear more of you and your flock in the future.
