Well today has been a good day. As most of you will know we have been having an extremely rough time with Ruby, our Scarlet Macaw. For the last few months she has been attacking us both. It was getting to the point where we were really thinking we had lost her.We had tried everything that we could think of and took all advice we were given. Finally we decided to move her cage to the other side of the room where people coming in were not passing her cage as they came in. Today she actually let Joe stroke her again. This is just a very small step forwards, and we still have a long way to go. She was always really bonded with Joe. She didnt try to fly to attack me today either, which is what she usually does, although as I passed her she did warn me off.Maybe one day she will tolerate me again, but at least for now I will keep my fingers crossed that this is not just a one off lol. |

That's great to hear Ann, it must be so upsetting for you to have her change like she did not to mention scary when she attacks!! I hope she continues to improve!!! xxx |

That`s fantastic news. Have you tried clicker training? I know you said you have tried everything so I am sure it`s something that has crossed your mind but I have heard very positive stories about using clicker training with positive reinforcement.
Sounds like you are getting things sorted anyway without that.

Ann & Joe, I'm so pleased that things seem to be turning round. As you know, small steps are the way to start big changes, let's hope with the love and patience that you have for Ruby that things continue to improve x |
