Hey y'all, I'm Kali, myself, my husband Ryan and my two little angels moved over here about six months ago from Tulsa, OK. We are here for another six months with my husbands work, and  just thought it would be nice to chat to other parrot owners. I have two children, Toby, whos eight, and Jade, whos two. We have found the UK a bit of a culture shock, but we're doing alright now!My momma currently has care of my birds, three umbrella cockatoos,Mitch, Passhie (was al pachino origionally) and Flower (named by Toby when he was so young), Blue, our blue and gold macaw, and Cyclops, our sun conure. My mom runs an independant rescue, and has since before I was born, so the house was always full of birds. All ours, one way or another, were rescue birds, though Im ashamed to say we bought Flower six years ago when we went into a local petmart and he was in a cage in there. It broke our hearts seeing him, and we against everything we believed in, we knew we could give him a better home than he would end up going to. Unfortunately, the States think less than your pet stores and sell parrots quite freely, everywhere. We were heartbroken to leave them, but we couldn't split up our family, and we knew they would be fine with my momma. Even so, we still cant wait to get back to see them!

Hi Kali and welcome to the forum. You'll find everyone here friendly and helpful and a little bit crazy sometimes. Whereabouts in the UK are you? You never know, you may be able to act as a short-term safehouse for Birdline during your stay, that will help you get your birdy 'fix' and will also help with a much needed job.

Things are a bit quiet on the forum this weekend - there's been a big fund-raiser over the 2 days. But it should be back to normal again soon. We try to get together in chat around 8/8.30pm (ish) on a Monday and Thursday, so feel free to join us in the chat room.

We love birdie pics on here, so if you have any pictures of your flock, we'd love to see them.

Well, welcome and hope to meet in chat

Thank you Helen, Unfortunately, I dont think safehousing is for us, we have never had a bird then let it go. I can see the sense behind it, but I'm not sure Toby could. We dont have any pictures on this notebook, but if my mom can figure out how to both put them on and send them, I will try and put some up. Hopefully I can try and get on chat sometime, when the house has gone quiet.

Hi Kali, you can share our birdies till you go home, then you can keep us updated with your flock.
