I have had Darwin the Senie here for about 6 months.  She came to me having bitten her previous male carer.

From the minute she arrived, she has loved me and cuddled and regurgutated but has never been keen on hubby but has not shown any out and out aggression.  He has worked with her and she will step on to his shoulder to come in and out of the cage and will fly to his shoulder when she feels like it but he has never been able to touch her.

Recently she has started to take treats from him and she likes to be rubbed with her food and she has allowed him to rub her with a banana chip, sounds strange but is mega progress.

She bit me quite badly the other day, my fault, I should have known better as she hates the phone!!

She has now become an absolute monster to my other birds and is stalking hubby around the birdroom and attacked hubby's face narrowly missing his eye and we are now both sporting quite large sennie wounds!!  Worse was still to come when she attacked Sammi one of my lovebirds.  Thankfully he is ok but was pretty scared and hiding after the event.

I seperated her from the rest of the little ones this morning and we have had a good cuddle, some breakfast and all was well.  I walked her back to the birdroom to put her away and as we entered the room, she flew at hubby like a thing posessed and attacked his head.

Is it just hormones or something else?

Thanks

Vicky

Hormones a strong possibility. And jealousy. I would seriously consider a wing-clip until behaviour improves - at least Brian would still keep his face intact, and the other birds would be safe....

We had the same problem with Alfie our cag when we first safe housed him. As soon as my Hubby came onto the room he would fly at him, often desperately wanting to be with him and then biting Seans hands and arms. No one could really get close,he would lunge at any of us. Bit of a nightmare really. Following Doddies advice we took him back to her and she clipped him. He is now our fosterbird who we can all handle, but really his heart is with my 14 year old son. He is a pleasure to have and rarely ever nips let alone bites. It may be worth a try- if only to keep you all safe!

Hi Vicky,
Sennies are little birds with HUGE personality (read attitude LOL)....it sounds as though you little guy is very hormonal, as he is generally tame but hormones and the fact that he is a sennie are giving him a hard time, I would agree that clipping might be a good option at least untill he get back to "normal". And as you are doing keep him seperate from the rest of the flock.

Hormones seam to be a nightmare this year, Nellie our Ammie has got it in for us all (except Marc) at the moment.....luckily she doesn't know she can fly at the moment LOL. Alba has gone from "saint too" to "terrible Too" and keeps biting everyone, especially Marc. Bonzo (B&G) just wants sex with everyone LOL.
