My name is Meena and thought I would introduce myself.  I live in Cornwall and am currently "owned" by two parrots! A Ducorps Cockatoo named Joe who is eight this June and an African Grey named BR who is 7 this May.

Pics below

Just looking for likeminded people to share hints and tales!!

Thanks for looking

Meena

Thanks for the lovely comments :-) in geography I'm about a mile from the Eden Project so pretty much mid Cornwall. It's great to hear from such like minded parrot owners! I love my grey but sadly she (well we think she, we never got round to DNA!) is a man's bird and loves my husband more than anything! She just tolerates me on a level just short of aggression! Joe our cockatoo (definately male!) is more attached but will go to anybody giving out cuddles! The two species are very different to live with and Joe definately gets very strange moods but over time we have learnt all his ways and how to deal with them!! Cockatoos are such loving birds and nothing to be scared of if you accept that there are what they are and can indeed have noisy moments!!!

I shall post some more pics when I get time and may well pop into the live chat.

Hi Meena and welcome to BL. I am another of the Brixham contingent, I have two GW macaws at the moment, my own is Bosun and the other is Lulu one of the BL show birds. I also have a small cockatoo Rossi, a galah. One of the BL directors Sheila also lives in Brixham. Amongst her considerable flock are two nutty Ducorps, one if them is Ozzie who spends his time sitting on the kettle and posting money or anything else he can find into the toaster, or behind the kitchen cupboards!

Hi Meens and welcome. I'm sure you'll find us a friendly bunch.

I have to ask, where does your forum name come from? And does BR stand for something? Sorry, just inquisitive.

Hi Helen

I stole comriest from my husband! He used to live at comrie st in Glasgow and I just adopted it! Strange really but used it once and it stuck! As for BR he started life as Davey then we just called him baby rot (br) then when he reached adulthood it became big rot (still br, I'm sure you can see then connection!) he started saying "BR" so it stayed a permimant name :-) it's definately a one off name!!
