Hello... I just joined today.. my name's Cheryl I'm 28 years old and I'm a birdy mummy to a pair of Pied Red Fronted Kakariki's (Widget and Joker aka Laughing Boy) they are approximately 2years old and she(Widget) is sitting on 5eggs they are really fun little birds to watch interacting with one another.  Well I found Birdline while I was looking into buying another bird.. and was interested in either a Conure or a Hahns Macaw will since I've stumbled across this page and seen all the birds in need of new homes I think I'd rather foster/adopt a bird in need than buy a cute little baby!

Hi Cheryl and welcome. You'll find us a friendly bunch and a bit crazy sometimes. Your babies do look cute. It'd be lovley to see a bigger pic.

Whereabouts in the country are you?

If you're hoping to foster or act as a safehouse, then you'll need to become a paid-up member - only £20 a year. But that does give the opportunity to apply for any of the birdies on the rehoming list - subject to a homecheck, of course.

Anyway this is my female Kakariki Widget its amazing how they can climb all over the bars even upsidedown in their cage without using their beaks proper little acrobats;

And this my little Laughing Boy enjoying his fruit!

I have hundreds of piccies of them! Anyway off to become a full member....

Thanks

Chez,

If you cut and paste the photobucket IMG link, we can all see the pics without having to look them up. Oh incidentally, I think Lesley G will be your ACO - I'm sure she'll be thrilled to have a new member in her patch

Thanks... I have edited my post and you can now see pictures and I've submitted a fostering application for Olly the Patagonian Conure... however after looking at the list again I can see a bird which maybe more suitable... Noddy the Nanday Conure who doesn't like children... I don't have any... unfortunately if I was successful I'd have trouble getting him from the West Midlands to me... :-/

Welcome, fab pics of your flock, my passion is the smaller species but getting into the bigger boys as well now. Got 14 here at the mo ranging from canaries right the way up.

I'm just down the road in Essex too, so not too far from me.

As for applications for birdies some distance away, don't worry, we often do mini relays up and down the M6, so if successful, location is not a show stopper. We try our very best to match the right bird to the right location, hence distance can be overcome!

Hope to see you around and about in chat sometime.

Vicky

I'm getting a little excited about my eggs... as they're due to start hatching middle to end of next week... and I'm off work for the easter week when most should hatch... little easter chickies well I already have a home for one of them a friend of a friend recently lost their Budgerigar so one will go with them and get lots of one on one attention... the rest (if they hatch) I'll probably keep and take the nest box down so mummy and daddy won't breed again as I know they can be very profilic and produce upto 4 clutches per year with upto 12 eggs in a clutch!  And they do love their baths... every morning without fail they're splashing around and flicking water everywhere... my other half has been drenched many a time when he's been near their cage hahaha!
