Hello. Meet Ozzie, he is an adorable 3yr old Congo Grey (But I am biased!). He has settled into family life really well over the last few weeks. Oz is a gentle, sweet natured little fella, with a fantastic Liverpool accent! He comes out with new words all the time which never fail to amaze me, he loves counting and his favorite number is definately 4! His favourite phrase at the moment is ''Waasss Up'' like the Budweiser adverts or mimicking phone conversations ' Alright, ok, tara!' lol. Michelle x

 Aww he's a darling!

But has he had a dodgy wing clip? Or is it a moult? On the one pic looks like he's clipped bar the end feather?

Yes I think Ozzie has had a dodgy wing clip at some point. His previous owner told me that he was clipped before he was brought home at 14 weeks and also that he had not been clipped since (He is 3 now). I am not sure if this is correct, its only what I have been told. If this is true then maybe it was such a bad clip that the feathers havent been able to grow back properly, as he should have moulted a good few times in that length of time. Maybe he was clipped more recently and they will grow back. Oz has 2 flights on one side and 4 on the other, all towards the front and none whatsoever going back. He can't fly or gain any height, but can kind of glide from his cage about 6-8ft and land safely without crashing, he is quite good at landing then waddles round the floor following me, telling me 'Its ok!'  He has only been with me a very short time, but I do intend to take him to my avian vet and get his opinion and if he thinks they will grow back!

Michelle x

Aww poor little guy, babies should never be clipped. It's highly possible then he's had a centre clip, and that could easily have done some damage. But good idea to check with your avian vet, he will be able to take a good look.  Either way he is gonna be spoilt rotton, glad to see you feeling better hun x

Ozzie is stunning isn`t he? Think we might need a few reminders of just how cute Spike is too you know.
Ozzie was living with Dylan, our latest B&G before he landed firmly on his feet with Michelle, and Dylan also has dodgy wing feathers, though not as bad as poor Oz. We get to compare stories with them both now!!
Ozzie is such a poser and I can`t believe how well he has settled with you in such a short time!!

Thanks Mandy. I know its awful that a little baby was clipped so young. My other grey is fully flighted, never had a clip, so I have not had any experience of clips etc. What is a centre clip? I have heard about 5 flights being taken from the end of the wings or alternate flight feathers being clipped but not the centre one. Would they have just taken the ones from the centre back or all of them? Oz  is a happy bird though, he doesn't know any different I suppose and just climbs about being Oz. It was strange at first as my other grey can fly from cage to stand to the boing on the ceiling or to me as he pleases, but poor Oz kind of stays where you put him! Love him. Michelle x

Thanks All, he is lovely, but I would say that he's my baby!
LOL Scarlett! I will have to add some piccies to the new photobucket account I created and get some posted of Spikey Bird in the morning! Can't have him being left out can we? Now Oz is getting all the lime light! He has taken himself to bed now a good while ago but Oz is still bopping, singing and beeping away on his swing as usual!! He seems to have his days and evenings a bit muddled! Its great though that Scarlett has Dylan and I have Oz so they still have a little connection so to speak!
