Hi, I thought I would introduce myself as I have just joined Birdline. I have loved birds especially the larger parrots since I can remember. I have owned Budgies and when training as a vet nurse worked in vets that specailaised in birds so was lucky enough to get up close to anything from an eagle owl to a hyacinth macaw! I currently run a pet sitting business and have various birds and parrots to stay, a green winged macaw was a favourite, we have a senegal parrot in with us at the moment and soon will be having a meyer parrot and african grey. I thought this would be a good place to get advice from and I would also like to be a safe house so I can hopefully help and care for a bird that has been less fortunate.

I also have a husband and 2 kids as well as 2 dogs, and a British Giant rabbit that lives in the house. I look forward to participating in some topics on the forum as well as hopefully getting some advice from you guys.

Nicola

Hi Nicola,

wow Hyacinth...you're sooo lucky, I'd love to see one. Welcome and good luck with the safehousing.

I love budgies..I know that when you deal with bigger birds it's hard to 'go small again' but budgies are so lovely.

Thanks for the welcomes.  I am based in Gloucestershire between Cheltenham and Gloucester. I saw some of the gorgeous birds in birdlines care at the Three Counties show last weekend. I was fascinated by the variety and how many there were!

It looked fab from what I could see - there was that many people around it was hard to get a proper look! The parrots seemed really chilled by the whole thing and not phased at all. I was impressed by the size that space must have cost a fortune!!!
