Billy is the only one I have had from a baby, he is 5. He is very quiet for a caique, and doesn't do the hopping, strutting and puffed up displays that are common. He is brave and protective.
Poppy was a sweet girl. She was clever, calm, tollerant, loving and funny. She died 18 months ago and I miss her every day.
Oscar is 7. He lived with a family who were often away from home, so he was on his own a lot. When they were around, he got very over excited, so wasn't often let out of his cage. When he came to me 18 months ago he was very demanding and threw the most spectacular tantrums, biting and quivering with rage. His behaviour improved when he realised that he would be out spending time with me every day. He occasionally gets overwraught, but now responds quickly if I talk to him calmly. He does the full range of caique posturing and display, including the 'hop', but is a big wuss underneath it all.
It took around 6 weeks for Billy and Oscar to become friends. Now they live together and sleep shoulder to shoulder with their little faces pressed together.
Charlie and Lulu are 18. They are an ex breeding pair who needed a retirement home. Lulu is very tame and loves to sit on your knee, but you aren't allowed to touch. Charlie is not tame, but is a very calm chap who is happy to live indoors. He cannot fly, so I have a grill hanging from the front of the cage that he uses to climb back up if he has been on the floor (intentionally or not!).
Theo is 20, she has only been with me a few weeks. Her original owner became ill and she was rehomed. Unfortunately this didn't work out and after some time at a safehouse, she came to me. She loves to sing with me, and adores being sprayed. She came to me frightened of hands, but she is so greedy she now walks up and down my arm to get to little bits of naan bread. She won't step up at any other time, though, so that is what will be working on next. She is very gentle, and likes to give 'kisses'.
