Thanks.  I really hope I am successful - normally when the phone rings, no-one bothers to answer it, but at the moment I jump to get it every time!  Then I'm really disappointed when it's my husband saying something like 'can you put the tea on' lol!!!!!

Some feedback from the past - things might have improved over recent months. I often found there were 2 birds I felt I would like to apply for and from what little was said on the rehoming list comments they both seemed to "fit". For whatever reasons, after about 4 weeks, I was turned down for the first but then felt it was too late to apply for the second because you start sorting applications after the birds have been on the list for about 2 weeks. I therefore felt I was missing out on the chance for my other choice. I used to be a culprit - I am sorry. I don't do it anymore though as I do not request birds as my wife feels I am up to maximum capacity!!! We are still negotiating though!!! Perhaps the rehoming team could give some explanation to cover this very real fear that a lot of people must have.

Dave the reasons are well documented. There is no doubt the situation described could occur, and everyone sympathises with this. But what an administritave nightmare if people could apply for more than one bird at a time. There are always huge numbers of birds looking for a new home, if we are committed to providing this, the right one for us will come along in the end. Its not a quick fix and does take time. Hope you understand, I am sure an ACO or director will explain more, or a quick search of the forums may give other threads relating to this.
By the way how many birds do you have already?
All the best
Chris

Hi Chris,
I am definitely not looking to rehome any more! I currently have the 14 pictured in my signature block but I am retired and with my birds all day everyday. I USED to get very frustrated with the process so just thought I'd share my feedback as others MAY be feeling the way I did and some reassurance might help them. At the end of the day I fully support that it has got to be the right home for the bird and I do realise this doesn't happen instantly. I wonder if there could be a question on the rehoming application along the lines of:- "If unsuccesful with this application, is there another bird you would like to be considered for" might stop people putting in more than one application at a time. - Just a thought!

Wow fantastic family of birds you have there. Phoebe looks great!!
Yep your suggestion has also been considered and talked about on the forums before. To be honest I cannot remember the exact problem with adding the extra question, but suspect in the main it really is an admin one. Currently the team have a huge amount to cope with, and while it seems quite a straighforward suggestion, would create a number of other questions/issues & delays.
You are certainly correct when you say people get frustrated with the process, when I fostered I felt I would never get there. But really as frustrating as it is, its something we all have to deal with and have to understand. I think efforts have been made to keep people better informed which hopefully will help, and there are warnings that the process will take a long time.
Its possible someone (rehoming team or director) will post some more detail later.

Cheers Dave (if I lived near to you I would be inviting myself round!!)
