What can I say about Freddie,

As you all know,Freddie was brought to us just before xmas suffering from a severe vit A defficiency with huge keratin cysts around his eyes and breathing difficulties due to being housed within a room which had TWO automatic airfresh sprays going at 10 min intervals and numerous dogs and cats confined to that room.

With many many visits to the vet for injections and surgery to remove the cysts he origionally had plus a few more that grew after,,,he was given a clean bill of health. His breathing problems lessened day by day with fresh air and he no longer suffers with them, even if he thoroughly exerts himself,no problems what so ever.  His scarring is now becoming less apparant, with new feathers covering them. He still doesnt step up and makes the usual timneh grumbling noises when you get too close, but,if I put my hand on the top of the cage,he will stop and come to me,head down for a tikkle and gives me loads of kisses when I ask for them.Once he has flown from his cage he alows me to pick him up,and is very happy for me to give him a cuddle.Bless him,he doesnt have a bite in him,so gentle. His socializing is coming on leaps and bounds now.

Freddie is now enjoying life to the full,he has lots of "out" time, most of which he spends on top of his cage, although he does like to have a fly round but cant manage too far as he still hasnt moulted out the wing feathers that he chewed off.He is now going outside with all the other greys and loves to climb about the ropes and swings now with the added bonus of a little sunbathing from time to time.

All in all,Freddie has come a long way since coming into B/L. After being caged for 18 months in a toxic environment with terrible defficiencies feeling so very poorly,he is now a very happy healthy timneh, that is why I think he deserves to be a success story.......BUT.......his success is also YOURS as well......YOU helped this to happen, with all your kind wishes for him and moral support for us,not forgetting your generous donations which helped greatly towards the cost of his treatment and with that I will say a big THANK YOU from Freddie, and all of his friends here at Greyzville.

Best wishes to all of you and to your flocks,Hazel & Adie XXX

Thanks everyone,

i just thought to myself, here we are talkin about freddie and there are quite a few new members who wouldnt have seen how bad he was when he first arrived, So just to show how he has recovered ive posted another picture. This was how poor Freddie looked when he came in to Birdline, he was suffering with a chronic vitamin A deficiency called hypovitaminosis A , the cause of this was a seed only diet and no vitamin supplements. He was also suffering with airsac problems that had been caused by automatic air fresheners that were being used in the same room as he was kept in along with a large number of dogs.

I would like to say a big thankyou from Freddie, Hazel and myself, to all of you that helped freddie get well again.............
