Hi all

Adding a piece of are you interested in any other bird on an application, still gives us the problem of dealing with an other bird and not the one we are solely dealing with at the time, so it would be NO different to a member submitting more than one application. This is NOT a good idea.

Members need to look at the bird they are drawn to and if they are not successful THEN apply for a different bird.

We will discuss a reminder being added to the application form to apply for one bird. As per Mandy.

Yes Sharon I have to agree, it looks like any bird will do when the same person makes applications for several birds.

Hi Mel, is there a way that it Would be only possible for members to only submit one application at a time? I know that there are ways to do this on websites but not sure how. I know that once an application has been submited a lock is automatically put on and stops another being sent. It then has to be removed by the site moderator. Would this be worth looking into or Would it be too much work for Mark with the amount of things he has on his plate at the moment?

I don't think it is always a case of 'any bird will do' if someone applies for more than one parrot. I have often looked at the homing page and am drawn to not just one bird. When I applied and was successful in fostering Nimbus I had applied for a few as didn't realise I should have done if for just one. From my point of view and of someone else I know who applied for a few parrots at the same time it just means that you would love to and would love either of the choices on your application.

I think it depends on a lot of things. If its feasible, if everyone thinks its a good idea, if Mark has the time, it may turn out top be a bad idea. I think it Would put a stop to a lot of un necessary paperwork for the re-homing team, and Anne wouldn't have to keep "bumping" this. It Could be worthwhile looking into though! ..... Anyone have any more thoughts on it?

I agree with Ann and all the others points about a second or third choice being exactly that and what that says about the reason for rehoming. I would say from past personal experience though (i MUST STRESS NOT WITH THE CURRENT REHOMING TEAM) there have been occasions when people were not informed of being unsuccessful so those who were patient enough to wait on the outcoem of their one application waited so long to hear that any other birds they may also have seriously considered rehoming had also been rehomed -

the new rehoming team aredoing a great job of keeping everyone up to date though and we all need to appreciate how hard their job is without them having to have things complicated with multiple applications.

keep up the good work guys

That's why I think This Could work, it would put a stop to multiple applications and The re-homing team can get on with what they do rather than having to go through piles of paperwork that they shouldn't have to. There time along with everyone elses is very valuable to finding homes and the right one's at that. If we can make it less stressful then its better all around. To say they are volunteers (like us all) there workload is astonishing. Every little helps.
