Hey all,
There must be something in the water round here because here I am yet another D&G member (yes I ticked the safehouse box... *waits for phone call*) I joined a couple of months back when I saw a bird on the list who I just had to try to help. I'm glad he got a good home even if it wasn't with me, but it did finally get me to join and support this great bunch of folk.
I'm a stay at home pet mum who is currently looking after two rescued Cockatiels (not rescued through Birdline) so the one cage I had is currently occupied - never ever buy a bird cage. They seem to gain occupants as soon as you turn your back. It's the same with fish tanks I find. My two noisy devils may not be with me much longer - there's talk of an outside flight that they would be far, far happier joining as they were both aviary birds to begin with and will never be hand tame. But that'll leave me birdless and sad so I'm drooling over the rehoming list again

Hi Beki, welcome to BL, it's great to have so many people in that area as you develop a real network and word of mouth spreads the word better than anything else! If you ticked the safehouse box I daresay your cage won't be empty for long though.....they work fast up there! |

Wow what a lovely welcome guys thank you  I'm sorry I didn't get back on earlier to thank you all but I didn't know I had any replies here - thought I'd set it up to pop me an email whenever someone replied to a post.
I'm in the Annan area, handy for most everywhere locally including Carlisle and points North, very happy to look after some feathered fiends on a temporary basis and make a little space in the other safe houses.
Does everyone here rejuggle furniture to make more cage space? I've been wandering round my sitting room with a tape measure and a furniture catalogue all weekend and I think I can fit 2 more in if I change the suite and swap things around a bit. Looking at 2 smart 2-seater sofas in leather (wipe off surfaces for-the-win) to replace my ugly old 3 seater + chair that takes up far too much cage real estate...
Yes, definately something in the water here.
