Will it be an issue if you iron the teflon coated clothes then? (Not while the kids are wearing them of course)!!

Theoretically yes, but your iron is almost certainly teflon coated anyway. Best thing to do is make sure you don't iron near your birdies.

mine is 10 years old, I think teflon pack its bags and left a long time ago lol, i don't have one of the shiny ones its more of a cotton feel but i bet it has some teflon on it. i hide my ironing boarding it just about stands up

Both the board covers and the iron have teflon in them - it's why irons are non-stick these days. It's also included in the coating of pots, pans, hair dryers and straigteners and the like. So Rita, your Vet is right but that's not the whole story.
