Is she hormonal? Sounds like a nesting/breeding thing to me... Doddie |

Jenny our 1 year old Jenday Conure also loves to hide under her paper. In fact she loves to snuggle up anywhereshe can. I wear an old apron when she is out as she is a champion "pooper" and she loves to hide under that or to climb up under your shirt. She even loves it if you make a circle with your thumb and fingers so she can stick her head in and stays like that with her bum in the air for up to half an hour!!! She has one of those tent things that hangs from the top of her cage and will lay in that on her back with her feet in the air chattering to herself!! Not quite wired up right.

my first sign that candi is in nesting mode is she disappears to bottom of cage more, and starts looking for wee dark corners everywhere she goes - latest one is inside a tesco bag! |

Can I ask please, for those of us with female birds who aren't mated, would it be good for them to give them paper and stuff to "nest" in so they can display natural behaviours? Angel has become a little odd of late and, while I can't pinpoint if it is hormones or her letting out frustration due to the loss of Marv (she has NOT been mated by Marv ever whilst in my care), if it would benefit her to be able to snuggle with her paper and stuff? She does have her favourite towel which she has robbed, we use it for "play" time and she has taken an unusual liking to it of late lol |

Three of mine are all shredding paper and cardboard, and scratching it up. One has always done this, but the other two have just started over the last week. The two that have just started this, are also moody at the moment, so I guess it is hormonal with them.
